Don Hunt reports he injured his right leg removing a big load from his car when help had failed to arrive, necessitating a visit to Orthopedics in Boston. On the lighter side, he reports that he has 23 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren. Sounds like a record. Will Betty Crawford come forward? Phil O’Connell had a large number, too. Congratulations, Don!
Fresh breeze from the West. Great to hear from Bud Brown: “When Isabelle and I, with daughter Fran, made that memorable trip back to Hanover for our 65th, I assumed it would be the last time I’d ever see New Eng- land. But the family reunion in April, prompt- ed by the wedding of a granddaughter and my 90th birthday, included two nieces from Mass- achusetts who now jointly own the original Friendly Pines, our family camp on Lake Champlain. My grandfather established the camp in 1899, and my generation spent all our childhood summers there. Fran and I were persuaded by cordial invitation to visit that beloved spot and the now-135-year-old house that came with it, and to see the new lake- front summer home the ladies just had built. Quite an emotional experience for an old man! We fished, went sailing, and tried not to mind the many flies at my favorite old haunts now swarming with people and cot- tages. Found a few old-timers who remem- bered me from those early days, including one beautiful lady who greeted me warmly. T have a confession to make.’ I said as I embraced her, ‘When I was a teenager I was madly in love with you.’ To which she responded, ‘Why didn’t you tell me so we could have done something about it?’”
Thanks, Bud, and congratulations on your 90th. You’re all very venturesome.
Happy Christmas to all.
