Earlier this week my wife reported that she had seen Jud Hale on "Good Mornking America." It seems that Jud's Old Farmer's Almanac has just published its 200th anniversary issue. According to Ruth Jud held his own with the city slickers while discussing weather predictions, planting tables, moon patterns, and the use of the same cover since 1855. Attaboy, Jud!
While looking through some files I ran across a letterhead listing Jim Venman as a partner in a Bridgeport, Conn., law firm. A phone call to nearby Trumbull gave me the chance to renew my acquaintance with Jim. After graduation, Jim married Janet and entered Harvard Law School, getting his L.L.B. in 1958. He then joined the Pullman, Comley law firm in Bridgeport where he is now specializing in estate planning and administration at their Southport, Conn., office. Jim and Janet have three married children—daughters Jane and Jean and son John-—and four grandchildren. Jim's practice keeps him quite busy, but he does take time to visit his children and take an occasional vacation trip, most recently to the Pacific Northwest last June. For relaxation Jim flies his hand at windsurfing and Sunfish sailing on the lake near his home, but, like when he was an undergraduate swimmer in Hanover, he prefers being in the water to manipulating vessels on the surface. Jim keeps in touch with Ken Harvey and says he has talked with Bruce Barnes recently.
A press clipping brought the news that Dr. Everett Borghesani, a specialist in oral/maxillofacial surgery has been appointed to the Paoli, Penn., Memorial Hospital medical/dental staff. Borgy, who holds both M.D. and D.D.S. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, has been in practice since finishing his residency in 1966. Borgy and his wife, Sally Ann, live in nearby Devon and have two grown children. Their son, David, a graduate of Gettysburg, is in sales and has two children. Their daughter, Karen, graduated from Bucknell last year and has started a management career with Charter House. As with many dentists, Borgy has taken up golf and manages to get in one or two rounds a week almost all year. He plays at the Merion golf club, one of the top four courses in the country and offers to arrange a round for any visiting '55 at this superb course whenever the opportunity arises. Sally Ann, meanwhile, is working on her master's. Last fall they enjoyed visiting Hawaii to attend a professional conference and take an Island cruise aboard the Independence, which they highly recommend. Borgy also serves as team physician for oral/facial cases for both the Philadelphia Fliers and Phillies professional teams. He does get to see many home games and travels with the Fliers on their western tours.
As your class secretary I have the sad task of preparing obituaries for deceased classmates. Over the summer I have received word of the deaths of John Mackinnon, Irwin Yecks,Wilbur Bissell, and Nelson Jones. Their obituaries will appear in future issues.
Class Treasurer Ralph Sauter has recently sent out class dues notices. He would appreciate your prompt response to avoid follow-up notices.
