A recent press clipping brought the news that Old Farmer's Almanac editor and classmate Jud Hale was the featured speaker at the spring luncheon of the Essex County Retired Teacher's Association in Haverhill. His topic was "Weatherwise and Otherwise—behind the scenes at the Old Farmer's Almanac." Hopefully Jud has been hard at work conjuring up some perfect June Hanover weather for our upcoming 40th next spring. Keep June 12-15,1995, in your schedule and Plans.
Not having seen or talked with Jed Isaacs in several years, I called him the other night for an update. Jed and Susan live in nearby Stamford, Conn., while Jed continues to work as managing partner of Edward Isaacs & Company, a New York accounting firm. Jed joined Peat Marwick out of Tuck School and the army and after five years moved over to the family firm he now heads. Jed expects to keep active in his profession until mandatory retirement in ten years. He and Susie get to make several trips abroad each year handling the international aspects of his work. They have three married children. Son Bill 'BO has graduate degrees from Oxford and is a consultant in Cambridge, Mass. Son John is a real-estate broker in New York. And "daughter Jane is fashion and retail advertising manager for a magazine in New York. As of yet there are no grandchildren since, as Jed put it, he is much younger than I. In their leisure time, Jed and Susie sail their Sabre 42 out of Westport From time to time Jed sees Bernie Siskind, who has recently entered the New York Real Estate business. The Isaacs are planning to attend next year's reunion.
Having heard somewhere this spring that Norm Fine was in the process of writing a book, I called him and discovered the truth. After a successful career as an entrepreneur in the high-tech field of electronic computer display starting in the sixties, Norm moved with Joan to northern Virginia to pursue their passion for equine sports and give him a chance to write. The Fines have a horse farm in Millwood where they field hunters and are active in the Blue Ridge Hunt, of which Norm serves as chairman. He is also co-chair of the Museum of Hounds and Hunting in Leesburg and newsletter editor of the Masters of Fox Hounds Associations. In his business days Norm had tried his hand at writing annual reports and shareholder communications and enjoyed it. He is now finishing a book commemorating the Centennial of the Norfolk (Mass.) Hunt Club, which takes place in 1995. The book has a forward by Massachusetts Governor Weld. Norm and Joan have two grown daughters and two grandchildren. They plan to attend the 40th, and Norm would especially like to see Larry Freier there.
Please take a minute and send along some news of yourself, your family, or other classmates. It would be most appreciated.
