This being the Thanksgiving season, I wish to give thanks to those classmates I kind enough to feed me a steady diet of news, without which I would not last the winter. Rather than continue with this tenuous metaphor, I will instead tell you that ScottFoushee is engaged to be married to Kiril Donnelly. The two met in San Diego and now live in Oakland, where Scott parlayed his Harvard B-School degree into the position of vice president of business development for an industrial holding company where he works on strategic planning and acquisitions. Scott said he has heard from Paul Bonucci, who, after getting his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and traveling around the world, decided to go back to medical school "to make a difference."

On the entrepreneurial front, Carey Gandy has become the president and majority owner of Maid to Order, a cleaning service firm he bought in Memphis, Tenn. After a stint as a financial analyst in New York and jobs with Chrysler and Merrill Lynch in Memphis, Carey bought the business and has been expanding it ever since. He has doubled sales and expects revenues to reach $250,000 next year. Frankly, I never remember Carey's room at Dartmouth being very clean, which provides further proof of the power of marketing.

I spoke with Elisabeth Adair Jaffe who told me that she and her husband, Howard, are expecting in March. The couple lives north of San Francisco, where Elisabeth is working on her Ph.D. in bio-physics at UCSF and Howard is doing clinical research at Genentech, where they met some five years ago.

After speaking at some length with Elisabeth about her thesis work, in which she studies the protein involved in cholesterol metabolism, I learned that she recently vacationed in St. Lucia with Pam and Mike Ciszewski. Pam received her master's degree in education and is teaching five- and six-year-olds in Manhattan, while Mike continues to climb the corporate ladder at J.P. Morgan. Elisabeth ran into Hali Croner at a friend's surprise party and reports that Hali is working in the family's business consulting firm in San Francisco; and from Hali she learned that Lana Shane is living in Santa Barbara and working as an environmental consultant.

She also reported that Sarah Strauss and husband Carrick Eggleston '83 have a long-distance marriage that few can rival. Sara was working on her Ph.D. in anthropology, studying Hindu medical beliefs, at the University of Pennsylvania while Carrick was finishing his degree at Stanford. Since then, Carrick has taken a job in Zurich, and Sarah will spend the year on a Fulbright scholarship in India.

Finally, Elisabeth said she was paid a visit last fall by Peter Ellis and Nick Bernstein for the Giants/49ers game, a contest she gleefully let me know the 'Niners won. After I reminded her of the Giant victories in the playoffs and this year's season opener, she lost much of her enthusiasm, but not before telling me that Peter is working in L.A. as a free-lance film editor for such films as "Big," "The Freshman," and the soon-to-be-released "Hero Wanted."

'Til next we talk.
