Libby, Mont., native, Larry Griffith, moves up at Owens-Illinois Inc. A news release out of Toledo in December announced that Larry, a magna cum laude graduate of Dartmouth and holder of a bachelor of engineering degree from Thayer, had been elected a company vice president. Good show, Larry!

Closer to the Hanover Plain, Harvard Kennedy School professor Bob Reich continues to enjoy good visibility in the media. A Boston Sunday Globe article of late January discussed Bob's new book, The Work of Nations, which hit the bookstores in mid-March. Many of you may have also seen Bob this winter on CNN reacting to President Bush's State of the Union address.

Sad news caught up with me in January, concerning classmate and fraternity brother Derek Wolshonak. Derek died on January 4 at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City, where he had been hospitalized for several months.

Please look for Derek's obituary in a future issue of the magazine.
