At least one classmate was personally involved in the Persian Gulf crisis last year. Gary Hobin, who retired from the U.S. Army on December 31, spent part of his
final year in the service deployed in Saudi Arabia with Operation Desert Shield. Gary claims that his undergraduate studies at Dartmouth and his graduate work in Middle Eastern history—not to mention his Arabic language training—stood him in good stead.
Testimony from fellow physician and Big Greener Bruce Feldman '62 tells me that Larry Cohen is doing great things in the nation's capital. "He is doing a great job for the Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C.," writes Bruce, and is serving in his second year as president of the hospital medical staff. In addition, he was recently honored by the Montgomery County-Prince George's County (Md.) Pediatric Society as their Pediatrician of the Year.
Thanks to another Dartmouth graduate, J. Moreau Brown III '39, I read about ChrisMeigher in a recent San Francisco Chronicle article. It seems that Time Inc. Magazine Company shook up things at the top this past summer and put Chris in charge of a new entity in New York. Formerly executive vice president and chief executive of the Time Publishing Ventures unit, Chris is now president of a New York division of the Company which oversees the periodicals published in New York, including Time, Life, People, Entertainment Weekly, Fortune, Money, Sports Illustrated, and Sports Illustrated for Kids.
As you can see, I'm getting help from non'68s. Let's hear from a few classmates. And take note: our fall mini-reunion will take place on October 26, post-victory over Cornell, in the Smoyer Lounge, Thompson Arena. Cheers.
