Exactly one hour north of the Hopkins Center is Dartmouth's newest entertainment mecca, the 50-year-old Moosilauke Ravine Lodge. This summer, lodge manager David Hooke '84 and his crew of students and young alumni will host weekly events ranging from classical music to "ethnic nights."

But don't expect (shudder) the Ritz. After closing last summer for extensive renovations, the lodge still offers rustic lodging, hearty dinners, bag lunches for hikers, and a great view of the mountain from what Chubbers call the "best settin porch in the business." Nonetheless, says Hooke," 'Re-live your freshman trip' is definitely not our motto this year. We want to make the lodge a common ground where anyone can feel at home and have fan." The "fun" includes Saturday dances and readings by Dartmouth authors.

For more information, call the Outdoor Programs Office at (603) 646-2428. During the summer season which lasts from May 17 to September 4, and from September 19 to October 12. You can call the lodge directly at (603) 764-5858.
