Ben True ’08 is the first Dartmouth athlete to break the 4-minute mile, the holder of the fastest five miles in Heptagonals cross-country history, a three-time Heps champion and three-sport All American, but he was slow to choose running over cross-country skiing.

Thus his decision to compete on the ski as well as fall cross-country and spring track teams—and lack of regret about the over-training that resulted. “Being on the 2008 national championship team was a bunch of fun,” he says of his skiing highlight.

Having completed his art history degree in March, True is headed to Oregon to run professionally. “it will take at least three years to get into 100 percent running shape,” he says.

On May 16 he’ll be among those honored at the sixth Wearers of the Green celebration in Boston: http://alumni.dartmouth.edu/default.aspx?id=1147
