Of the 400-plus officers of the 69 graduated classes that attended the annual C.O.W (Class Officers Weekend) in Hanover April 27-28,1927 was well-represented by six officers and four ladies. They were: President Roger Bury, Frank and Evelyn Strong, Charlie and Ruth Paddock, Dow Mills, Paul Hannah, Bob and Franchot Long, and Peg Funkhouser.

The theme of the weekend was "Celebrating Dartmouth Excellence," and we were all impressed by talks by President Freedman, several officers of the college, and a panel of professors detailing the steps that are being taken to achieve this excellence at Dartmoudi.

At a separate meeting of class secretaries, Jay Heinrichs, editor of the Alumni Magazine, announced that for the second year in a row the magazine had received two national awards for best college magazine and best special issue ("Nostalgia").

Bob Long reminded us that 1927 is holding a fall reunion in Hanover the weekend of the Bucknell game September 27-28. He asks everyone to make a special effort to include this date in their plans for the fall.

Word from Seth Besse is that our stalwart and ever-dependable Tom Gillespie has once again agreed to take up the reins, this time as a helper to Seth on the 1991 Alumni Fund.

A long letter came from Cam Clokey in answer to his recent class birthday card. In 1984 he moved from Sun City, Fla., to Freedom Village, a retirement community in Bradenton, Fla., where he leads a very relaxed existence. Last year Cam was president of the local Residents' Council. Occasionally he calls Bud Wesselmann, his former college room mate, who lives in Winter Park Towers in Winter Park, Fla., and is not very well. Cam did mention that he suffers from arthritis and gets around by the use of an electric scooter.

The class mourns along with Dow Mills the tragic death of his oldest son, Stephen Dow Jr., of lung cancer last January at the age of 47. He left his wife and five teenage children. Since the May issue we have heard of the following deaths: George Warren Cummings, May 13,1990; Edward C. Reynolds, February 5,1991; Richard E. Stowe, February 6; and Robert E. Slater, April 8.
