Your class was well represented by six members at Class Officers Weekend. The most exciting event was the tour of the Collis Center. The planning and execution of the building are a tribute to Charlie and Ellen Collis. Their imagination and concern for what the students needed is reflected in the common rooms and eating facilities. The restored dining area, where we had our meals, is now an attractive auditorium used daily by many student organizations. Students told us that Collis Center has enabled them to easily get to know and meet other students because of the excellent facilities. The three benches our class will place in front of Collis will be dedicated to Charlie and Ellen at our mini-reunion on September 24. That is another good reason for you to attend the mini on September 23-24. The football game is with Ivy champs U-Penn.
John Davies '94, our '37 scholar, visited with us for the last time and told us of his experiences studying in Russia and his work on a thesis, "Nuclear Power in Russia." With a dual major in physics and Russian, also being knowledgeable in computers, he spent time working on software with the World Bank in Moscow. What a great example of a Dartmouth student playing a part in creating a better understanding between the United States and Russia. We are proud of John and look forward to following his progress and seeing him in the future.
Katie Bankart reports that Bibs is making progress recovering from brain surgery. Sorry to hear that Charlie Collis underwent a heart bypass operation.
We regret to inform you of the deaths of our bequest co-chair Chuck Bassett on April 10 and Bandy Dwinell on May 22.
Look forward to seeing you at the mini on September 23-24.
