Oh, boy! Oh, boy! Did you hear that Frank "Phred" Davis took the plunge and married Beth Higgins in Bahston last September 14? Eyewitnesses (and there were many) report that it was a beautiful moment. The earth moved. The gods wept. And that was before the bar even opened. Walter Ellis, Matt Wilson, Pete Burack, Susie Alexander -Viguerie, E.J. Kelley, Andy Krahmer, Rich Roberts, Stan Williams, Alan King, Gordon Prescott, and Ted Branch, among many, many other "best friends" were in attendance.

To what did my wondering eyes appear, but a letter from the elusive Liz Mueller Manent, enjoying married life and the joys of consumer marketing for Manny Hanny in the Big Apple. Liz, as previously implied in this column, married Cesar (South Carolina Gamecock '81) last March. Liz and Cesar live down the street from none other thanjohxi Hall, who is working for the law firm McKenzie, Brackman ...

I mean, White & Case. Big John has more academic pedigrees these days, sporting a J.D. from NYU Law School, and a master's in public administration from the Woodrow Wilson School. But the really major news is that Mr. Hall is now 30. A sad ritual was held on his behalf, attended by a few well-meaning folks like...

Mark Burget, who graduated from UVA last spring with a law degree and an M.B.A. (Heck, Mark even flew in from Seatde to watch John crumble); Betsy Evans Bodver, now in her first year residency in pediatrics at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York; Chris and Tracy (Nickerson) Herbert, one of whom (Chris) is chasing his Ph.D. at the J.F.K. School, and the other (Tracy) teaching bilingual education in Boston; and Belle Traver, who just moved to Providence, R. 1., from Detroit in order to be closer to her yacht on Cape Cod. Belle is a physician's assistant working for a heart surgeon's practice in Providence. Then there were Sue Bremble Johnson (along with husband Drew), who is working by day as a sales manager for a drug-related company and nocturnally at her and Peter Fleming. Sorry, Pete. You must have arrived at the party late. Nobody can remember any news about

Here's a social update from Caryn Ginsberg: Caryn's found the time to get married (October 1990 to Michael Levitin), enjoy an extended honeymoon (to Australia and New Zealand), and set up die homefront in Arlington, Va. Kevin Luing has been appointed president of Berkeley College of Business in New Jersey. Wow! Kevin received an M.B.A. from Wharton and joined Berkeley in 1987.

This envelope addressed to me arrived the other day. It had the look of a law firm on it. You know, boring-colored stationery, 27 different names on "the letterhead, hermetically sealed, something about billable time, etc. At first I thought it was a subpoena. Actually, it was just Dave Hendren checking in from his glass-encased law office high above the streets of Boston, where he works on mergers, acquisitions, and solving Robert Maxwell's finances. Dave and Alyson are also fledgling parents thanks to the arrival of Charlotte Sandra McLeod on August 30. Dave took a break from the action to attend about ten Grateful Dead concerts with noted Jerry Garcia aficionados Igor Sikorsky and John Rogers. Dave also reported that Alice Ruth was recently promoted to vice president at Montgomery Securities in San Francisco. Michael Cooper was married during September in Paris. Eric Valley now practices law in hometown Seattle. Dan Rogers has finished a judicial clerk- ship with a Federal District Court judge in Louisiana (there's a screaming oxymoron somewhere in that last line) and now is at Phelps, Dunbar in New Orleans.

Byron Kalogerou in an in-house lawyer at Tyco Laboratories. And Kevin Meuse did some bottom-fishing in real estate in Boston and found a new home in Brookline. Kevin is a trustee and estates lawyer at Ropes & Gray. Count 'em folks. 32 classmates in a single column. I'm greedy. Send more news.
