Every once in a while, I get the feeling I'm in a time warp actually about every other month, when it's my turn to sit down and write the Class Notes. As I swelter in the HHH weather of this record-setting July, I project myself forward in time to the cool days of autumn. And autumn brings about the "back to school" frame of reference—it's the 1980s, and the start of crisp fall days as we trek around campus, surrounded by the beauty of the N.H. mountains. And today I report news to you of acquaintances made in this past, of some future events—as if in the pasta nd of current (but not by the time you read this) events that may bring us together again today, and in the future...

Creative classmate Elizabeth "Libby"Schmeltzer Hinson and co-editor/husband Rick have made news, winning a 1998-99 Daytime Emmy Award for the sound editing of Voltron: The ThirdDimension, the number one-rated weekly children's show in syndication.

Upon reading in a previous column that she was a "long-lost classmate," CaroleSonnenfeld Geithner writes that she is a clinical social worker in part-time private practice in Washington, D.C., mother of eight-year-old Elise and five-year-old Ben, and married to classmate Tim Geithner.

Joe Dempsey has been named executive vice president and market manager at PNC Bank. Joe lives in Piscataway, N.J., with his wife, D'Maris, and two sons.

Hats off to recently elected mayor of Panama City, Juan Carlos Navarro! After graduating Juan returned to Panama and established the National Association for the Conservation of Nature; in 1995 he was appointed as Panama's first environmental ambassador. Honoring his career in environmental conservation, Time Magazine and CNN have recognized Juan as one of the "Latin American Leaders for the New Millennium"; and he has recendy completed his book Panama National Parks.

Lisa Feinberg Densmore is still ski racing (on the Masters circuit since 1991). Last winter Lisa won the slalom and the Super G at the U.S. Alpine Masters National Championships, bringing her total to 15 masters skiing titles to-date. She was named to the 2000 Spyder U.S. Alpine Masters Ski Team for the fifth time. Ski RacingInternational also gave her one of its "Masters Recognition Awards." Off the slopes, Lisa received the Harold S. Hirsch Award for "excellence in snow sports journalism" in the broadcast TV category. George Sotos sends news that he and his wife, Peggy, had a second daughter, Madison, born in May of this year. "Older daughter Katherine just turned six. George is still practicing oncology in Maryland, and recently met up with several other Dartmouth alumni at My Nguyen's medical school graduation party (yes, he made it). Also in attendance was Tim Weihs.

Dennis LeClair is in Natick, Mass., working for PSW Technologies as a senior project manager, and staying extremely busy coaching two of his three sons' Little League team. Dennis still keeps a watchful eye on Dartmouth baseball and has gotten to some games in the greater Boston area (at Babson and then again at Holy Cross, both Ws for the Big Green)!
