25 Betty Crawford was justly proud to see her fifth grandchild, Benjamin Crawford, graduate from Dartmouth in June. They are one of the great Dartmouth families. Congratulations to Betty and Benjamin.
Larry Leavitt says we have 74 living classmates, not 64. Good! He put his boat in Lake Sunapee May 23. Radford Tanzer paddled over from Georges Mills, two miles away, with nephew and wife. Radford is an experienced paddler. Larry also reports that June Dodez, widow of Ed, diedrecently. "Our loyal widow," Larry writes, "was a generous contributor to the Alumni Fund for 19 years; her last gift came October 31, 1991."
Another regular contributor, ElizabethThurn, widow of Al, died December 26,1990. A 1 died in 1973. He had transferred to UPenn after two years.
LeRoy Adams writes a cheery note from Georgia and says the first football game he saw in Hanover was against Colgate in 1919. Takes us back!
I am grief-stricken also to report the sudden death in mid-May of Bobby White, one of our most faithful and joyous members, widow of our beloved Llewellyn. This was reported to me by Betty Sleigh, her closest friend. They were always together. She died of a heart attack. A very sad loss. More in the newsletter.
Thought for the month: if you want to be a secretary, think of Bill Sleigh, he's your model. And remember what a great pair he and Llewellyn made.
