Last chance to attend the special min-reunion October 16-17 in Hnaover great fun! First, a story from a news bulletin concerning MaiHalliday who, after graduation, followed up on his fascination with Iceland and, backed by a Fulbright scholarship, studied at the University of Iceland. His studies and his marriage to Inga, an Icelander, deepened his appreciation for the nation, which values education highly. "Iceland has 100 percent literacy and people spend more time reading books at night than watching television," according to Mai. Mai was a headmaster at the embassy school and started a school to teach English to Icelanders.

"He scuttled his plans for the foreign service when told that his marriage to an alien prevented his application. Enticed by his experience in education, Mai received a master's degree in administration and supervision from the University of Maryland, and a Ph.D. in education administration and higher education from Michigan State.

"Al though he originally intended to aim for a superintendence he found himself reluctant to leave elementary education. He became principal of Brookhaven in 1972 and believes he may have the longest tenure of any current elementary principal in the school systemwith good reason.

'"I think this is the best job in education,' he says."

Next to Dr. Dave Viscott who, according to the Orange County Register, "spends half his life with headphones clamped over his ears, listening firsthand to the private thoughts of complete strangers." Each day on the radio and each Sunday morning on television, "he hunches over a note pad and listens to the complicated dramas of the modern psyche."

Dave, a Boston native, now lives in the Hancock Park section of Los Angeles with Katherine, his artist bride of 11 years. Tom Bradley is a neighbor. Following Dartmouth he graduated from Tufts Medical School, was the chief resident at Boston University Hospital's psychiatric clinic, a fellow of the Boston University Medical Institute, and served as psychiatrist and consultant for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He also served as a UCLA Medical School psychiatrist.

He recently established the Viscott Centers for Natural Therapy in Beverly Hills, Woodland Hills, and Newport Beach, Calif Dave founded these centers to utilize a new approach he developed for short-term psychotherapy. Dave noted in the Orange County Register, "People are getting a lot of help from many sources, but the concept of short-term analysis, one to four sessions"he paused and continued "people are motivated to be autonomous and want help. The key tool is an audio tape of the first two-hour session and die subsequent use of these tapes by the patient."

Dave is a dedicated gardener, plays tennis, swims, and continues to be a very proficient clarinetist. Way to go, Dave, and best of luck. From Indiana we hear that Dr. Ken

Robertson has recently joined the staff of the South Bend Community Health Center. Following Dartmouth, Ken received his M.D. from Harvard and served a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis. He practiced in Corvallis, Ore., for 30 years prior to joining the center.

See you next month. Don't forget our minireunion.
