Fall colors, football, and elections around the corner. Just reminding myself when this will come out. A real nice letter from Lynn Rowe follows. "I'm writing to tell you to toot the horn for one of our classmates. I'm sure he's too modest to want to brag about himself, but his achievement deserves accolades, and I haven't seen any mention of him lately in our Class Notes or newsletters. I'm talking about my former roommate Don Fennessey, who took command of attack fighter squadron VAF-25 in Lemoore, Calif., on September 27 last year. This squadron, known as 'Fist of the Fleet' now flies F-18s, but it will more than likely always be associated with F-14s in most of our minds. The tail insignia of a fist grasping a lightning bolt is very familiar to all of us who have ever seen "Top Gun." As if being the CO of the fighter squad weren't enough, Don has another squadron at home consisting of his wife. Sue, and his children Brian, Christine, David, and Michelle. I'll bet there is never a dull moment around there.
"I guess I would be remiss if I didn't include a brief note about myself. My wife, Jeanne, and I have been leading a somewhat hectic lifestyle for the last fourteen years on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay. During this whole time, I have been a programmer/analyst in Mobile. I think I may hold a couple of records for our class. Maybe you can verify or disprove these (sec'y note: I will defer to triviologist Bill Price).I submit that I may have the oldest living father, who just turned 91 last March, and I may also be one of the few people who still possesses the very first car that he ever bought. I'm still hanging on to the Chevelle Malibu that I purchased right after I got out of Dartmouth."
I will confirm, Lynn, that we were in a few math and German classes way back when. Lynn would like to get in touch with BobTsigonis, or, in reverse, Lynn can be reached at 19 Michael Loop, Daphne, AL 36526.
From Andrew Bodge, "Coming up on 15 years with Digital Equipment Corp.just switched from software documentation to software engineering (programming). Stepson Andrew Field '9l is now in graduate school Columbia, Asian languages and culture. Stepdaughter Robyne hopes for a career in architecture. We live in Acton, Mass., in a Victorian-era house. Still have '66 Lotus. (Is it your first car? See above.) Rafting through Grand Canyon in June."
From John Richard, "1) Struggling to parent as well as I was parented; 2) Bewildered by the medical-industrial establishment which forces my attitude toward my medical career away from caring and towards cynicism; 3) Disappointed that the politicians of our generation seem no better than previous eras; 4) Happier than ever with life's challenges."
From your humble secretary, thanks to Andrew and John for the postcards returned to the Alumni Mag, and to Lynn for the letter. Keep them coming.
