The deadline has crept up like a wedgie, so I will move ahead quickly. Ed Wisneski should have his master's degree from Southern Methodist University by now. His wife, Susan, received hers a year ago (yes, matching His and Hers degrees, the kind of thing you would expect from the city of Neiman-Marcus). Wiz and Susan set their VCR to catch any missed Stooge episodes and then set off for a 12-day cruise in Norway. Wizzer used his freelance- writing skills to describe the trip in articles carried in the Boston Globe and Dallas Post.
Congrats are in order to one of my fellow South Fayer classmates. Bob Kefferstan has recently earned a Doctor of Education in special education at West Virginia University. His dissertation topic concerned the effectiveness of semantic mapping instruction on the definition-making abilities of middle-school children with and without language learning disabilities; he was awarded a Phi Delta Kappa Outstanding Research Award for his work. He has previously earned an M.A. from Northwestern University and an M.A.T. from Harvard Graduate School of Education. He is currently manager of office automation at West Virginia Network for Education Telecomputing. He is married to Christine Bane Kefferstan, associate professor of piano at West Virginia University. They live in Morgan town, W.V., with their two children, Sean and Mary.
In what has become a loosely annual mini- reunion event, Ted and Ethel Lippman hosted a day of pool/beach/pool and eating in southern New Jersey. Ted's older son (and clone) David was there, while younger son Joel was at camp. Other attendees included the Sacks—Mike, Sandi, Jacob, Myra, and Leah, the Shireys—Steve, Lauretta, little Steven, and two-month-old Clayton, the Carstensens—Chip (not Chris), Marilynn, and Haley, Sandy McCree '73 with nephew Jesse, and my girlfriend Karen and me. The sun prevailed for the first time in a couple of years, leading to a wonderful day. If it had rained, Lip would have made sure I was stripped of any mini-reunion responsibilities (a lesson the class recognized years ago). As it turned out the rug rats were pool rats and beach rats (not the terminology necessarily favored by editorial management).
Any other gatherings to report?
