Savor that recent newsletter because the dirt from this end is minimal. The Falls Church News has reported that Gordy Daisley has announced his candidacy for commissioner of revenue. Gordy, a native Washingtonian, has been living in Falls Church since 1982. Along with a master's in business administration, he has 14 years of experience in the financial-services industry in a variety of commercial lending, real-estate lending, and financial management positions.

Carol Frost recently spoke at the University of Wyoming on "Women in Geology." Her discussion broadly addressed the concerns of women entering one of many traditionally male-dominated professions and tracked the career of Katharine Stevens Fowler. A geologist of international fame, Fowler was born in 1902 and is still living in New Hampshire. Carol has a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, U.K., and specializes in isotope dating with an emphasis on Wyoming's Pre Cambrian era.
