I don't know how widely the recent 1992-93 Annual Report of the Bequests & Trusts Program is distributed, but, in any event, some of it warrants mention here. It is, in addition, thought-provoking. In it, the College acknowledges gratefully the receipt of bequests from the estates of PeteCallaway, Edith Fitzpatrick, Bill Fletcher, and Griffith W. Roberts.

As our mortality is increasingly impressed upon those of us who remain, we should consider that a bequest to the College bestows upon the giver a touch of immortality, a personal connection with the future. In that sense, it might be comparable to the gift of a life-saving organ to someone of a younger generation. I'm sure Bill OBrion or DorisMcClory would be glad to help.

Two of the foregoing names invite questions. If we've received a previous report of Edith Fitzpatrick's death, I'm sorry to have missed it. Belatedly, I speak for myself and members of the class in offering condolences to Jack. Also, since Griff Roberts died in 1966, I speculate that the recent bequest in his name may have been triggered by the passing of his widow, Jeanette, after the publication of our 1991 class list. A son, Griffith M. 1954, survives.

On a happier note, a recent conversation with Blanche and Milt McInnes brightened a day for me. Both sound fine; both say they are. Blanche bowls in the winter and golfs in the summer, and Milt says she'll probably be playing on the LPGA circuit next year. They're planning a Thanksgiving trip to California and January on Longboat Key, Fla.

Milt reports that Dean Wiggin had a hernia operation, apparently successful, as Dean says "I hope you feel as well as I do at 92." And Hank Odbert reports falling down stairs and regaining consciousness in a hospital, with a broken arm. Then, making the most of his hospitalization (or possibly because he couldn't defend himself), they did some colonic surgery, from all of which he's recovered. I'm looking forward to visiting him and Gwen en route to the mini, taking my usual Florida shortcut to Woodstock.
