News from the much-traveled Ed and Ilona Drechsel via a letter from Berkeley in early September, and a few days later a phone call from York, Maine. They flew to Boston and started a two-week drive around New England including stops at Woods Hole, Portland, Hanover, etc., with plans to visit the Fernalds and other old friends. Back in late June and early July they were in Vancouver for the high-school graduation of a granddaughter, and on the return trip they had a four-day drive on the Olympic Peninsula with Dave and Shirley Fox. Prior to that, sometime in May, they visited Costa Rica, where they had a very interesting time, including a meeting with former President Arias. No word as yet on their next adventure!

Late in August Bob and Tanna Fernald paid a visit to Chebeague Island, where Nancy and I spend our summers. They spent a night at the Chebeague Inn, and the previous afternoon we were able to give them a tour of the island and later join them at the Inn for dinner. They seemed to enjoy the island, and it was a very pleasant time for us.

Boyce and Betty Price were on the move in mid-September. They spent an evening with Bill Niss in Falmouth and had lunch the next day with Len and Janet Mead in Brunswick. From there they headed on a nostalgic trip to Quebec, where Boyce in WW II days was involved in setting up a meeting between Roosevelt and Churchill.

Mac Hill sent along another travel note. Jim and Myra Ann Pearson traveled to the Indian Ocean and Kenya about a year ago, but otherwise they are content to lead a steady life of golf, etc., in the Scottsdale, Ariz., area.

As noted in a previous column, Frank andMarge Curtis have done some traveling of a different kind. They moved to Florida in August, and when I talked with Frank a couple of weeks later he said they were gradually adapting to the change but were very thankfal for air conditioning! Their new address is 3041 Matecumbe Key Rd. #1, Punta Gorda, FL 33955.

On a sad note, Brad Chase's wife, Kay, died on September 7.
