The '36 lobster get-together was a little different this year. Partly because of the small group, it was held indoors at the Schoolhouse Restaurant in Portsmouth, N.H., on Tuesday, August 8.
Since the day was very hot we were happy to gather in a private air-conditioned room. After going through a buffet line we were seated at long tables a very comfortable set-up. Our group consisted of: Marty and Ann Marie Brown, Ray and Jerri Builter, Brad Chase, Harry and Rose Coronis, Bill and Peggy (Lancaster) Cushwa, Phyllis England (who had made all the arrangements), Pete Fitzherbert and Jane Linnell, Dede Foster, Ed and Helen Higbee, Dick and Pat Knight, Madine Morton, Bill and Hilly Niss, Isabelle Pounder, Boyce and Betty Price, Art and Ethel Toan, Bill and Anna Wyman, and myself. All agreed that the lobsters were great, and of course the company was super.
According to an article in the July 16 issue of Parade Magazine, Budd Schulberg has a new collection of essays on boxing titled Sparring with Hemingway. Since boxing has been a passion of Budd's since his youth, he seems to have followed the age-old admonition that one should write about a subject with which he is familiar. We hope the book is another big success for Budd.
The winner of this year's Class of 1936 Women's Award is Rebecca Jane Slisz. She was a history major with a 3.74 GPA and was a Presidential Scholar research assistant in the fall of 1993, working on the topic "Women and Race."
Throughout her College years she was involved with the Inter-racial Concerns Committee, on which she served as coordinating director and student leader, and she had a community-wide commitment to diversity. She also served as a senior interviewer and tour guide in the Admissions Office and a trained conflict mediator in die College's mediation center. In addition to all those activities—and others, she had an outstanding career in field hockey. We wish her success in whatever endeavor she pursues.
Always keep in mind the big 60th Reunion, June 10-12, 1996!
