October 29 saw the eighth annual convocation of the Dartmouth constituency at North Hill in Needham, Mass., with 22 qualified men, wives, and widows present. After miscellaneous toasts to 1769, dinner included guests Bob Danziger '56 and his wife, Sara. Later Bob gave an interesting report of recent Dartmouth doings from his point of view as a Trustee of the College.
Norm Shellman, Northglen, Colo., gave thanks for his class birthday card and the Hanover memories in it. He and Lucy now live in a lifetime retirement community. They no longer shovel snow, and they leave skiing to their three grandsons. Norm says, "Hello to the great class 1926."
Also from the West, Scottsdale, Ariz., came birthday replies from Chal Ewing. He is enjoying good health, having had a bypass eight years ago and no problems since. Possibly due to his hereditary link of some four or five generations to Eleazar Wheelock?
Class Chairman Clark Weymouth was given the significant Lawrence G. Leavitt '25 Memorial Gift Chairman Award at the October Dartmouth Alumni Fund meeting in Hanover. Tubba, who conceived, nurtured, and perfected the 1926 memorial gift program, was deeply moved by this honor which he promptly said should be shared by his wife, Barbara.
Another Larry Leavitt Award for outstanding achievement in memorial gifts was given to Tubba for his work as coordinator for 26 years, and to Edward E. Emerson as co-coordinator for three years. Incidentally, Ed was the only classmate to see Dartmouth win at Harvard Stadium, thereby achieving the unbreakable '26 record of seeing every Harvard-Dartmouth football game since 1922, freshman year.
