Dick Deane returned a few months ago from Harare, Zimbabwe, where he served as a volunteer with the International Executive Service Corps (IESC). Dick retired in 1985 as division sales manager for the Sealright Company and was recruited by IESC to assist Highfield Bag (PVT) Ltd., a manufacturer of woven polypropylene bags and cloth. Dick's recommendations from a previous project were implemented, and the company plans to expand and invest in new equipment. lESC volunteers have worked in 101 countries. If you are interested in serving as an lESC volunteer executive, you should write to R. Jerry Hargitt, VP Recruiting, lESC, P.O. Box 10005, Stamford, CT 06904-2005.
I learned that our presidential couple, Jackand Millie Corwith, broke bread with Billand Nan Russell at the Dartmouth Alumni Club Christmas Brunch in Sarasota and saw Bill Thompson there. Jack reported that he, Russell, and Dick Rugen were working on plans for a regional '42 luncheon in Southwest Florida in late March or early April.
Buzz Cassidy writes, "In my recent trips to Hanover I've been much impressed with the excellence of the faculty I've met and their dedication to teaching. The talent and enthusiasm of the students take me back to our time. I'm also moved rather positively by such reports as the U.S. News survey that continues to find Dartmouth ranking in the top ten nationally in student satisfaction. And the fact that parents of students set a new record ($662,000) in their giving to the Alumni Fund in 1992 strikes me as a strong indication that Dartmouth continues to seek and achieve excellence in all that one looks for in a college experience."
