In the September issue I reported that we came from 20 different states and Canada to celebrate our 60th. This made me think to check on where we lived in 1930 and where we do now. In September 1930 the top-ten home states were New York (153 residents), Massachu- setts (142), Illinois (56), New Jersey (53), Connecticut (42), Ohio (38), New Hampshire (28), Pennsylvania (27), Michigan (13), and Missouri (10). In June 1994 they were Massachusetts (38), Florida (30), New York (26), New Hampshire (18), California (18), Connecticut (16), Illinois (13), New Jersey (8), Pennsylvania (8), and Maine (8).
Imagine, as freshmen we came from 35 states and D.C., missing just 13 states. Now we live in 38 states, plus Canada, Mexico, and Guam. The states where no '34 has permanent residence now are Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
Mike Menchel is one of those who moved to new homes this year. He's still in California, but now he lives in a guest house he built on his daughter's property in Rancho Santa Fe. Got a knee replacement, but he enjoys his new quarters.
Jack and Mary Frances Feth had their family with them recently in Hawaii to help celebrate their 50th—a perfect place and time for a gathering. If you recently passed that great landmark, let me know when and where you celebrated.
Mary June Wilson, who recently moved to Mitchellville, Md., has a grandson, Andrew Pearson '95, here in Hanover, and he likes Dartmouth very much.
Bo Allabough was happy to have a granddaughter graduate from Dartmouth in June. If any others have grandchildren at Dartmouth now, let me know so I can salute them.
Art and Bea MacGregor joined us for Reunion, but there wasn't time to have Art lead a mountain hike. He showed us a beautiful picture of himself standing on top of Mt. Moosilauke, where he hiked last fall.
Bill Emerson told me while at Reunion that he's being listed in the 12th edition of Who's Who in the World, in the 29th edition of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, and the second edition of Who's Who in Science andEngineering. Wow! What a gift he's made!
Any gifts you've made that I haven't reported?
