Our 60th brought together such a bundle of warm ties. We are all grateful for the fine effort by Bill andIrja Wilson in setting up the program, and for the friendly support from classmates, wives, and widows who attended. Next gathering will be for the Penn game here on September 24, with our '34 meeting and a pregame lunch in the Smoyer Lounge.
That all-time-record 60th-year gift to the Dartmouth Alumni Fund by the class of 1934 was a remarkable way to say thanks for what Dartmouth has provided for us over the course of 64 years.
Where did we come from for the 60th? I find 20 different states and Canada. Brice andKathryn Banks came farthest, from California. Bob and Nona Kolbe came from Colorado. Phill and Suzy Glazer helped Dick Houck represent Tennessee. Gillieand Pru Gilmore made it from South Carolina, Bill and Harriet Rench from Missouri. Ohio had Sam and Alec Carson, Andy andNancy Donaldson, Sam and Marianna McCray, Art Moebius, and Laura Heath.
Em Day, Oscar Cohn, and Wally andJackie Welch joined Bob and Mary Engelman from Illinois. Five '34s had Florida as chief residence:, the Sulzbachers, DickCampens, and Bill Harts, plus CharlieKehoe and Stan Silverman. Jim and BillieWalter, coming from Canada, were our only non-U.S. citizens present.
All four of our living past presidents, SamCarson, Tom Beers, Stan Smoyer, and BillScherman, were present with their wives, Alec, Mary, Barbara, and Gerry.
Baker Library has purchased books that our class gave in memory of departed classmates. There were 75 of these in the five years since our 55th Reunion. If interested in knowing what book was selected for any classmate, let me know. I'll have a list with me at future Dartmouth mouth events, or I'll send you word via postcard.
We've had a bundle of address changes since our 1934 Directory was published in September 1993. Before long we'll send a summary of these to all the class. If you lost your copy of the directory, let me know as I have some extras.
