An article in the summer issue of Dartmouth Medicine tells of the annual Mosenthal Open Golf Tournament named for "much loved Professor of Surgery and Anatomy William Mosenthal, Ever since its founding ten years ago it has been a fundraiser for David's House, a home-away-from home for children undergoing treatment at DHMC and their families." This year's tournament offered an opportunity to celebrate Bill's 60th year as a member of the Hanover Country Club. In addition, it marked the opening this spring of a new and larger sls million, 15-bedroom David's House, a short walk from the new medical-center campus. "Dr. Mosenthal stopped doing surgery in 1981 but still teaches neuroanatomy and gross anatomy to first- year students as well as a fourth-year surgical anatomy elective."
Russ Tolles reports on a visit from LewWilliams, who was in the New England area attending a family reunion. "Lew has finally found a small apartment in Kansas City with which he seems very happy after several 'Wrinkle Wranches,' as he calls retirement homes."
George Wheelock still calls South Bend, Ind., home, where naturally he attends all Notre Dame football and basketball games. The balance of his time is spent playing cards at his local Elks Club and visiting with his daughters in San Diego.
Faithful Pat Gorman checks in once again with news of a three-week trip to Greece and Turkey and an accident on a Keystone, Colo., slope, in which he crushed his left collar bone. After an operation necessitating a bone graft, a titanium bridge, and ten weeks of recuperation, he was back in shape. "Everything works great now." He sees Cy McKinnon often. "He is in good shape except for knee problems that may require surgery and reconstruction."
Gus Hennessey's widow, Elizabeth, sent me a copy of our 15th Reunion directory and two copies of our graduation program. Perusing both brought back many memories. Should any of you be interested in one of the programs let me know.
From Ann Landers: "When primitive man screamed and beat the ground with sticks, they called it 'witchcraft.' When modern man does the same thing, they call it 'golf.'"
