"The Volvo station wagon and 2.3 kids cannot be too far ahead." —Greg Labate Good old Greg Labate wins the award for keeping me up-to-date about his whereabouts. (Actually he is tied with PaulHochman.) Anyway, Greg has "joined the ever-growing ranks of the nuptially betrothed." He has married the "most beautiful woman in the world," who is named Sophia. The two married in Malibu, traveled to Moorea for their honeymoon, and will settle in Los Angeles. Also attending the wedding were Mike Moody, Jenn Hellman Pomoy, Lisa Gathard Thaman, JoeBerman, Dan Katzir Jim O'Shaughnessy, and Dave Koeninger.
I believe this is the first time we have heard from Brad Mencher, who writes, "for the past two years, I have been working for AT&T Global Information Solutions on a business re-engineering project. As time- consuming as that sounds, my new daughter takes even more of my time, and it's wonderful! Her name is Alexandra Evelyn Mencher, and she should be joining Abby Fanlo in the class of 2016. If you know of any '86s living near Dayton, Ohio, I'd like to get together, with them." Thanks for the info, Brad, and thanks for sending it via Compuserve!
This month's Brush with Fame candidate is Burgie Howard, mentioned in the Boston Globe as a "grad who couldn't cut the college cord." Well, after all, he did go to the Big Green! The article profiles graduates who refuse to leave their alma mater. It notes Burgie is known as"Mr. Dartmouth" and is afflicted with the Dartmouth disease. And profiled in Engineering News was Phil Bayley, named assistant professor in mechanical engineering at Duke. His research interests include nonlinear dynamics, vibrations, chaos, and their applications to machines and biomedical devices.
Laura Lindner was named brand manager of the Coors Family of Brands recently, and Lelia Mellen has been appointed by the National Park Service to begin designing greenways and to help write grant requests to obtain sources of financing for the Housatonic River. Lelia served in the African nation of Sierra Leone while in the Peace Corps.
Another person on the information super- highway wrote me via Compuserve: PhyllisSmith. Phyllis lives in eastern Massachusetts, where she works as a quality assurance analyst for Marcam Corporation. For fun, Phyllis hangs with Steve Erb and TomMcDonough and rides her horse Geronimo in low-level dressage competitions.
