Hanover, October 14 Reporting tonight from the I campus, I can attest that ' the Dartmouth spirit is not dead. Well over half of the freshmen class of '98 must have been marching in the parade and later danced around the bonfire. The Friday night festivities of Homecoming Weekend were as lively as ever: parade, band, Glee Club, peprally speeches, etc., followed by a spectacular bonfire. If this spirit prevails, we will decimate the Yalies tomorrow. [Decimate, no; but win we did.] Seriously, I have never seen so many people on the Green at one time, happy and having fun. Somebody, somehow must be doing something right.

Nothing world-shaking is to be reported from the class meeting at the mini-reunion on Saturday morning. The new class officers for the next two years are Chairman Ed Tuck, President Bill Carpenter, Vice President Bob Wilkinson, Head Agent Bob Kilmarx, and Assistant Head Agent Bob Mcllwain.

You may recall that class officers listed above change every two years, at the fall minireunion, and that each one moves up the ladder to the next job.

The mini-reunion co-chairmen remain Len Matless and Dave Taylor, Jim Vail continues as bequest chairman, your scribes JoeMedlicott and I stay in place, as does BetsyPinkham as widows' chairperson.

The only other change is that Fizz Nichols will replace Ben Shaver as treasurer. After ten years watching the till, Ben leaves our treasury in great shape: a cash balance of more than $10,000 and $43,000 in the endowment fund. Good job, Red!

For a wrap-up here's advice for you incurable romantics. As your wife readies for bed, tell her, "The light reflected off your night cream is like the moonlight on a still mountain pool, and the silver gleam of the curlers under the hair net suggests dew on cobwebs in some remote glade."

Rosanne Barr's answer to whether she was upset about her recent divorce from what's his name was, "I'm only upset that I'm not a widow."

Wassail!
