After almost five years as your secretary I discovered how to stimulate letters from classmates. In the freshman issue I didn't correctly recall the class's matriculation dates, so I received another letter letting me know of the error of my ways. Ed Nickerson wrote to say I had left out those service veterans who matriculated in March of 1946. Before anyone else writes, I also acknowledge classmates who matriculated with earlier classes but decided to affiliate with 1949 since they graduated with us.

Ed recalled that Charlie Russell parachuted from a disabled bomber; Ham V. Bright took a bullet through the elbow while his brother Tom served in the front lines with no injury; and John Cyvazian helped a bomber find its way, and on board was classmate Paul Olson.

Our mini-reunion weekend proved to be a big success, good tree color, and golf at Lake Morey with an excellent lakeside dinner Saturday night. In spite of an off-Dartmouth Night gathering, it was attended by a record number. Those in attendance were:

Doug and Betty Thompson, Joan Sullivan, Jim and Barbara Huntington, Gordon and Doris Thomas, Bud and JuneHughes, Vail Haak, G.L. Wagner, RichieHunt, Mike McGean, 8.8. and LeighCrawford, Pete and Ann Lord, John andEleanor Simpson, John Stearns, OrtHicks,Beth Griffiths, Allen Brooks, Chet Palmer,Bob and Dona Muenzbere, Luke andMartha Soule, Tom Swartz, Paul andMargery Woodberry, Bill and JuanitaChapman, Maurie and Linda Cole, Jeff andSue Farnum, Burt and Carol Proom, Rayand Nancy Rasenberger, Bert and SueRodman, Ray and Barbara Truncellito,Skip and Manya Ungar, Larry Taylor, Billand Jocelyn Yates, Johna and Joan Sweetland, Gil Nelson, Ed Macßurney, Clarkeand Jane Church, Jim and Joyce Zafria, BillLinn, Carl Tracy, Jay and Barbara Rosenfield, and Irl and Barbara Marshall.

The class meeting involved much discussion about our up-and-coming 45th in June. Thanks to Peter Gish, our uniform will have a distinctive '49 logo, and we were assured that our tent activities would be far enough away from assigned dorms that the night owls would not disturb the early-to-bed, early-to-rise crowd. Also, on a first-come, first-served basis, many in attendance will be able to apply for a dorm room with bath. Since most of us are retired or have fewer obligations at home, it is our hope that the number returning will exceed all other gatherings. So put it on your calendar as a must, June 13-16.

For those who wish to escape the cold North, there will be another Florida minireunion at Greenlefe March 2 3-2 5, and if you want to plan for the fall, our gathering will be October 1 in Hanover, using the Lake Morey Inn again.

The reunion year is considered extra-special when it comes to supporting the College. Please think about giving more than in previous years, and help the class reach higher reunion goals.

The full report on the Pick Axe Award to Ed Mac Burney will appear in the next issue. Those in attendance at the fall meeting enjoyed a reception at Jim and Barbara Huntington's delightful farm in Orford.

May this New Year bring many of you together in Hanover in June.
