Time marches on. I heard a startling statistic. The median Dartmouth alumni class is now 1970. The median person remains so for only 14 hours, at which time a death or a group of new graduates shifts the median. Maybe even more startling is that one half of all living alums are now from co-ed classes. I find it hard to conjure up a vision of our class as elder statesmen, but somehow it seems to be creeping up on us. Are we prepared for the challenge?

Jay Heinrichs, editor of the Alumni Magazine, put out a request for alumni writers interested in contributing to the magazine. He got 57 journalists volunteering as authors. What a phenomenal response. If you'd like to join that group, Jay would be most pleased to hear from you.

Harvey Epstein has shifted his West Lebanon motel from Sheraton to Radisson, so look for the Radisson flag and pay Harvey a visit. I had neglected to report that MarshaBancroft won the United States Championship Triathlon in her age group in 1993. She got hypothermia at the Worlds and had to retire, but she'll be back in 1994. Let's all cheer her on. I had a nice chat with CharlieWhite, who has settled into a rather idyllic retirement on Maine's Casco Bay, complete with deep-water frontage and a cozy abode. I touched base with Kwan Yim, who came to Hanover with wife and children last fall. He continues his teaching at Manhattanville College and was a welcome addition to Homecoming activity. Bob Adelizi would like RonRoth to report to us classmates how a career is made. As I got it, Ron traveled to Hollywood chasing Miss New York, smitten by her beauty. That did not last long, but his Hollywood career was launched. How about some details, Ron?

Finally, I am very sad to report that DavidVorse died last fall. His home was in Manhattan Beach, Calif. He was an exceptional skier and a captain of the Dartmouth team. He entered Dartmouth in our class and returned after time out for the air force. Dave will certainly be remembered by all of us who skied with him, and we'll think of him as he challenges the next great mountains.
