Our class had a good turnout for Class Officers Weekend and stimulating discussions for the future of our class and the health of the College. A session tided "Developing Effective Class Officer Teams" certainly was enlightening. Each class-officer team had to build a tower. Construction materials included masking tape and index cards, along with a large, heavy plank the goal was to produce a free-standing tower with plank on top. Since our president, Clark Griffiths, is an engineering headliner, Jack Cramer was a distributor in the manufacturing sector who had been resting up for this, David Cook is a financial advisor, and Dick Perkins a peddler, what better team for the process? As time was running out our tower grew then collapsed; however, we were undaunted. With the perseverance of our engineer leader we went on to success—if a little late. What does this tell you about our great class of '57? Please send your insights or comments.

During the class-secretaries meeting we discussed those of you we do not hear from. One secretary reported that he has formed a "Rip Van Winkle Club." If you've been "asleep" for many years, please wake up and write; if you have a friend in that category, write and tell us about die long-sleeping class member. Another secretary calls the sleepers "MlA's," or "Most Incommunicado Alumni." Same drill I'd like to hear from you.

Dick Duncan is on the editorial board of the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine. Dick, how

about doing a guest column for a little on-the-job experience? Probably the most interesting communication of the month is the article from the Sarasota Herald Tribune about Reyn Guyer, our classmate inventor and businessman who developed the sixties fad Twister and the seventies hit Nerf Ball. Now Twister has made it to the Games Hall of Fame along with Monopoly and 15 others, but Reyn is off to conquer a new challenge with a new series of children's audio cassettes called "Curly Lasagna." Guyer's quotable quote is "I think people overrate being creative. I don't have to be different or kookie or weird. The only difference I can think of is that I am used to working with ideas, thinking about ideas all the time. That's what I do." He extols the virtues of teamwork in developing ideas and turning them into products. Reyn seems to have his life in good perspective. He's a three-handicap golfer, enjoys his Florida beach house, his wife, Mary, and the visits of children and grandchildren. Not bad, Reyn. And thanks to Charles Tseckeras for sending along the article.

Clark Griffiths is retiring from Split Ball Bearing after 35 years on the job. Clark left Thayer School and essentially walked across the street to Split, eventually becoming chief engineer. He surely has enjoyed the combination of living in the beautiful Hanover region and putting together a meaningful career. Congratulations, Clark!

Again, please send your thoughts, I would love to hear from you and your classmates would certainly like to catch up with you.
