Retirement seems to be the name of the game for '58s. I noted with envy the news that Dave Dingman has chosen to retire as professor of plastic surgery at the University of Utah. With his wife he is now enjoying the warm waters of Florida in their boat and practicing his technique flying his new aerobatic airplane. May see him on "Wide World of Sports" when he competes in the national competition later this year.

Joel Potash has left the world of academic medicine to begin a new work which I would describe as truly a ministry. He has become the medical director of Hospice of Central New York. For those whose unfortunate lot it is to suffer from a lingering terminal illness, the ministry care that hospice provides in the final weeks is an example of human compassion at the highest level.

Keep watching TV for a glimpse of JohnFoster. In addition to working with his own executive search firm which he started in 1992,he is doing some commercial acting and voice-overs. During late nights at the Delt house I always had the suspicion that John had a thespian side that might one day come out.

Did you catch that shot of Will Durousseau in the winter issue of The Sound and the Fury? One good looking guy who seems to have discovered the fountain of youth. How's about sharing the secret with the rest of us graying '58s, Will? John Otis, take note.

Hope to be in Auburn, Calif., later this month. Think I shall check out the FM airwaves to see how Bob Thompson's new FM station, KSRN, is doing in Reno, Nev. Should be coming up on its first anniversary. Hang in there, Bob, I am told the first year is the toughest.

I was delighted to learn that there is another Ben McAdams walking this earth in the person of Brendan Vincent McAdams IV. I trust that he is a "chip off the old block," no pun intended, Ben. I still remember our commencement on that gray day in June of 1958. You may remember that we were lined up by height with the tallest leading the procession. Being five feet eight in those days (having begun the shrinking process, I'm mow just five seven and a half), I found myself about 15 or 20 from the rear. So much for thinking of myself as being of average height! I still recall looking back at the 50th Reunion class which followed us and thinking, "2008 is at least an eternity away." Now, here comes Ben's grandson, who could be a member of the class of 2014. The years do fly by faster and faster.

Time for this '58 who will be 58 later this month to close off. Drop me a note or give me a call (212) 922-5248 with your news as you, too, approach the seventh decade.
