Hail to Charlie Dudley, who did his usual super job with our well-planned 65th Reunion at commencement time in Hanover. Art Nighswander's 29 Up will contain our official minutes with names and details.

Unfortunately, this year the Commence-men ment ceremonies were moved indoors to Thompson Arena due to early-morning rain.

Our gathering room, class lunch, and dinners were on the first and second floor of the Inn, and cars and "go-fers" made travel as easy as possible between the bedrooms at The Lodge, breakfasts at Thayer, and other affairs at the Alumni Gym and Hopkins Center. Al Finlay's widow, Luly, and Larry Hale's Marianna added a lot to our party, as did Lee andCharlie Goldsmith.

Squeek Redding delighted us with his attendance in spite of Loretta's death only three weeks before. She had years of health problems, but they were able to enjoy their life together at Carleton-Willard Village in Bedford, Mass.

Did you know that Jake Jacobitti, the Episcopal priest who led our beautiful Memorial Service, earned his M.D. from Temple and practiced medicine for 50 years? We have never heard a lovelier rendition of "The Lord's Prayer" than sung by Carol Magenau at our service in the Episcopal Church on Saturday.

We are fully aware that many worthy classmates were not included in our brief summary recently, and one was brought to mind by a friend in '28.

Dave Martin served with great distinction in the U.S. House of Representatives as a rep from Nebraska for seven terms, 1951—1975. He was the ranking Republican on the powerful Rules Committee, which means he was part of the leadership. He also was co-chairman of the Select Committee on the Reorganization of Congress, whose work produced several major reforms. In 1987 the Dartmouth Club of Washington recognized Dave's contribution by conferring on him the Daniel Webster Award for Public Service.

His donation to the Hood Museum, Veronica's Veil is on permanent display there.

To these notes Rip adds: Who knows what sacrifice and moves for good Are made each day and with what fortitude By those of us who do the best we can, Content to be just one more common man.
