Countdown to reunions. We will hold our annual mini-reunion October 14-15, the Yale weekend for sports fans. Our 30th Reunion will be held on the long weeKend of June 15-18, 1995, only nine months away. Make plans now to attend. If you are a golfer, you can appreciate what Ken McGruther has been doing. After retiring from the navy, Ken took on a parttime position as marketing director for a small golf course in Colorado. After searching for an affordable PGA Pro, Ken decided to learn to teach. Paraphrasing a familiar naval expression, Ken asserts, "last year I couldn't even spell Golf Pro, and now I are one." Ken also runs the pro shop and the food and beverages operation, and now holds the title of "Assistant Director of Golf Operations' at St. Andrews at Westcliffe Golf Course. If you are in the area, look him up at P.O. Box 1173, Westcliffe, CO 812 52. Ken continues with various consulting work on national security issues, a task which frequently takes him back to Newport, R.I., or Washington, D.C. Ken also has founded a not-for-profit company called Innovative Futures Corporation which focuses on environmental and other futurist issues. Ken hopes to make it to the mini next month. We hope so too.

Bill Oberlink is still in West Palm Beach where he is the president of the Florida region for Cellular One. He was recently named the chairman of the United Way of Palm Beach County annual campaign. Bill has been a CPA and spent 24 years with Ernst and Young as managing partner of the West Palm Beach and Miami offices.

Eric Engstrom is a senior member of the law firm of Fleeson Gooing, Coulson & Kitch, L.L.C. In addition to his professional work, Eric has been involved with community service for many years. He has received the 1994 Kansas Governor's Award for Historic Preservation. He was appointed to the Kansas Historic Sites Board of Review in 1977 and elected the first permanent chairman of the board the following year, serving in that position for 14 of his 16 years as a member. Eric has also served as an advisor to the National Trust for Historic Preservation for Kansas.

District Court Judge Bob Ziemian is a former navy pilot who was still an active member of the U.S. Navy Reserves when the Persian Gulf War broke out three years ago. He was summoned from his court in Dorchester, Mass., to support a base in Spain where he served for seven months. After the conflict ended, he returned to the bench to battle an ever-increasing caseload. In addition to serving his nation and his state, Bob serves his local community as a coach of soccer and basketball for young people.

A few months ago I sent out some personal requests for information. One person who responded was Phil Edgerton, who brings us up to date with the following. Since 1978 he has lived in Santa Fe, N.M., where he arrived to practice dentistry for children. In 1989 he began a two-year residency at Boston University Medical Center in Endodontics (root canals), "about as far removed from my previous specialty as you can imagine," says Phil. "Going back to school at age 46 was an incredible sabbatical from real life, inspirational and challenging." He is back in Santa Fe, "still skiing like a maniac and snowboarding, playing plenty of squash during the week." After 15 years of being relatively single, Phil remarried in 1993. Phil the philosopher says, "Experience seems to be infinitely expandable, and so far, I'm able to keep leaning into it."

Look for details on the above classmates in your class newsletter. My stack of news is still large. See you here next month.
