This month I turn my attention to the former residents of Brown Hall. My research indicates that there must have been something in the water there as no less than 20 percent of our Brown Hall classmates went on to law school. Starting at the top of the alphabet, Roger Aaron (Scarsdale, N.Y.) and Les Buch (New York City) are practicing in the Big Apple, while Bill Becker (Bethesda, Md.) is practicing in Washington, D.C., and Larry Berg (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) is practicing in Michigan. Cleveland, Ohio, is the home to two other Brown Hall alums, Lee Chilcote and Ken Lapine, while back in New England we find Steve Colt practicing in Norwich, Conn., and Len Green practicing in Manchester, N.H. On the other side of the bench until early this year, I found Richard Neely (Charlestown, W.V.). Richard has recently retired as the chief justice of the Supreme Court of Appeals in West Virginia and has returned to private practice.

Since Brown Hall was in the shadow of the Dartmouth medical complex, it is not surprising that a number of our classmates went to medical school. Don (Mike)Gamel is an anesthesiologist in Edinburg, Texas; Marc Grinsberg is an opthamologist in Sarasota, Fla.; and Bruce Irvine is a general surgeon in Salt Lake City. Three other members of the class, MichaelLanday (Dallas, Texas), John Larsen (Fairfax, Va.), and Peter Wright (Nashville, Tenn.) have gone on to academic careers in medicine. Michael, who delivered the valedictory address in 1964, is now a professor of radiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center; John is a professor of obstetrics, gynecology, and genetics at the George Washington University; and Peter is a professor of pediatrics and microbiology at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Also teaching are Steve Caldwell (Ithaca, N.Y.), Roy Lewicki (Columbus, Ohio), Bill Ware (Chapel Hill, N.C.), Bowie Duncan (Redding, Conn.), and Larry Schwartz (Suffern, N.Y.). Bowie teaches English and world literature (while still looking for his glasses) at Greenwich High School, while Larry teaches social studies at Spring Valley Senior High. Steve is a professor of sociology and policy studies at Cornell, Roy (a recovering former dean) is a professor of management and human resources at Ohio State University, and Bill is a professor of education at the University of North Carolina. Bill passed along a wealth of information to me via email which I will pass on to Bob Paterson for the class newsletter. However, he asked me to ask each of you to remember our classmate, Greg Nahill, who left us too soon due to an untimely automobile accident in the fall of 1963.

Well, that's all the room I have for this month. As we pause for the holiday season, all of us on the executive committee want to extend our warmest wishes to you and your loved ones.
