When Labor Day rolls around most visitors to Cape Cod head back across the bridge to the United States. Class of '40 travelers did it differendy, taking advantage of the good October weather. First came Bill and Jane Pellington from Kansas to check out the golf and the real-estate market Several years ago they left the Cape to live for a time at Myrtle Beach and then in Lawrence, Kans. Now they are hoping to try Cape Cod again, the best of all worlds. Next, Chet and Nancy Brett paid a visit to Boband Faith Dibble. We were lucky to be invited to that gathering, both for the delicious lunch and for the gift of a botde of Dib's handpressed cider. Jack and Donna Faunce showed up for an Aetna Insurance Co. party in Hyannis, Mass. When we took them for an Ocean Beach ride in our four-wheel drive, Donna broke the record for artistic camera shots of sand dunes and ocean waves.

Bill Witherspoon's plans for 1995 include a trip to Hanover for the reunion and a ski expedition to Deer Valley, Utah, in February. His postcard of Stein Eriksen enjoying the powder there makes it look easy. Bob Wetzler keeps busy cruising on his boat, gardening, traveling, and spending winter months in Florida. After an Elderhostel in Kentucky this spring he hopes to make it to the 55th. Walt Goodrich says there is a lot of brass in the golden years, but he is still planning to be at the 55th. Lew Lambert works four days a week as an interpreter for the Forest Service at the Mount St. Helens Visitors Center. Not all retired medical doctors are so versatile.

Timely application of the new medical treatment for ulcers recently rescued Pete Shedden from his scary first encounter with that affliction.
