It seems that a whole host of babies have been born in the past year. Those of you who are relatively new to parenthood may not be as alone as you think.

Rick and Dee Mayberry brought a new baby boy, John, into the world this year. John joins his two-year-old sister Christie. The Mayberrys are currently living in Manhattan but planning to move into a new home in Greenwich, Conn., as soon as renovations are complete. A Tuck graduate, Rick has been with Citicorp more dian ten years, where he is now doing venture-capital investments and leveraged buy-outs. Previously, he was with Merrill Lynch. Dee was with Bank of America before starting a family. Of course, Rick spends most of his free time with his new family, but he still manages to get in some running.

Christopher and Astrid Peisch had their third child, Oliver Hans, last November. (Chris and I would like to thank the mystery writer who sent me Oliver's birth announcement. Professor Slesnick, was it you?) Oliver has a brother and sister, Nicholas 2 and Virginia 7. Chris has been in Europe for the past 11 years. He and his family now live in Frankfurt, Germany, where Chris has his own investment company making private equity investments in Germany and Northern Europe. Chris graduated from Harvard Law School with a combined J.D./M.B. A. in 1982. He began his career working as a lawyer with White & Case in N.Y.C., but soon moved to London in 1984 to work for Goldman Sachs in investment banking. Later Chris also worked with Morgan Stanley in London and Frankfurt before starting his own firm last year. Astrid is German but spent her teenage years in the States and is a graduate of Hamilton College. Chris and Astrid met in London, where they were married in 1986. Naturally, Chris spends most of his free time with his family, but he also finds time for running. Chris keeps in touch with Terry Tyler, who was an usher in his wedding, and John Donaghy. For the near future Chris arid his family plan to stay in Europe.

David and Marisela Kepes have a new baby girl, Emma, just a few months old, and a two-year-old son, Abraham. David recently became a VP at Merrill Lynch, where he has been in the financial-consulting business for the past 12 years. Prior to that he had a number of interesting experiences, including living on the side of a mountain in Vermont for a year after graduation, where he read as much as possible, and motorcycling around Texas. Marisela is from South Texas and is of Mexican-American descent. She is currently pursuing an accounting degree at the University of Texas in San Antonio. David and Marisela have been married for three years, and they spend a lot of time with their immediate and extended families. David feels the Dartmouth community provides another extended family. As district enrollment director for the Dartmouth Club of San Antonio, he has had great success encouraging top Mexican-American students from minority schools to apply to and attend Dartmouth. This is David's way of bringing together two communities that he cares about. David appreciates fine wines, and he just added a 2,000-bottle wine cellar to his house. He stays in touch with Frank Gallo, Emma's godfather, and KevinMcGillicuddy, and he sends greetings to all classmates.

The next issue of the Alumni Magazine will be September. In the meantime, have a great summer, and remember to stay in touch.
