Congratulations to Norm Veasey, whose son Eugene was married in June. Gene is an actor who recently appeared in a production of Measure For Measure in New York City. Also, congratulations to John Freund, whose daughter was also married in June. Emily is a candidate for a doctorate in math education.
The College has begun a six-month revision of its "Physical Facilities Inventory and Recommendations" document (otherwise known as the College's master plan). Lo-Yi Chan will be responsible for updating the new master plan. Lo-Yi designed the original master plan.
Ralph Destino has been awarded an honorary doctorate of business administration degree by johnson & Wales University. Ralph is chairman of the board of Cartier Inc. After graduation Ralph opened a jewelry-making firm that manufactured in Providence. In 1974 he became president of Carder's Far East division, in 1976 he was promoted to president of the corporation, and in 1985 he became chairman of the board. During Ralph's 22-year career with the company it has grown from a single retail store on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue to a nationwide organization of 21 stores and 200 authorized dealers. Ralph has also received numerous honors, including the American Cancer Society's Distinguished Service Award, the Torch of Liberty Award from the Anti-Defamation League, the International Humanitarian Award from Boy's Town of Italy, and the Diamond Industry Council's Hall of Fame Award.
Bob Buchanan has been elected moderator of Weston, Mass. The moderator presides at all town meetings and appoints members of the town's finance committee as well as members of special committees. Since 1959 Bob has practiced law with Sullivan & Worcester in Boston, where he is a partner.
I am sorry to report the passing of JimHoeven on May 10, 1996, in Fort Collins, Colo.
