Susan L. Howard, associate director of the College office of financial aid, has named a second class of 1937 scholar. He is Ross Wilkin '99 from Asheville, N.C. Ross was valedictorian of his high school class and a National Merit Scholar. At the September class meeting, we decided to fund three scholars with the income from our scholarship fund. A long letter from our scholar, Maria Bassett '97, described her Dartmouth Language Study Abroad program to Queretaro, Mexico. Back in Hanover last spring, she was a member of the lacrosse team, which received a bid to the final four of the women's national championship. Maria is presently taking a leave term working as an intern at an outdoor education center in Ossipee, N.H.
The November "Give a Rouse" listed Walter R. Hard, former editor of Vermont Life, who was recognized by- Yankee magazine as one of the "60 special people who make New England New England." After 25 years at Vermont Life, he became editor of the book division of Garden Way. The University of Vermont conferred a degree of humane letters on Walter. A veteran of the Tenth Mountain Division campaign in Italy, Walter is looking forward to a reunion at Ft. Drum, N.Y. He and Dorothea live in Enosburg, Vt. Health and distance have made it difficult for him to participate in our class affairs.
