Lots of news about our classmates from all over: Jack Hoeven Jr. was appointed to the North Dakota Board of Higher Education by Gov. Schaffer for a seven-year term beginning July 1 .Jack lives in Minot and is chairman of the board and president of First Western & Trust of Minot. He has been very active in the community. He has a law degree from University of Montana, but finds banking more to his liking. Dr. David Crombie has been named chief of the department of surgery at Hartford (Conn.) Hospital. David received his medical degree from Tufts and served in the navy from 1967 to 1969. He is an associate professor of surgery at the University of Connecticut and adjunct professor at Dartmouth Medical School. He lives in West Hartford with his wife Margaret and keeps in touch with his four children. He also sings in his church choir. Shades of Paul Zeller.
Sam Daniell started running in the late 1940s and has been at it ever since. He started again in earnest at the age of 41 and he now runs three or four times a week, about 15 miles total, "As hard as I can." His best 10K time is 36.00 and his best since turning 60 is 39.35. He has run several marathons, including Boston a couple of times. In 1989 he was rated number one in the world at his age (then 60) in indoor rowing when he posted a time of 8.49 for the 2,500-meter distance. Rowing is a side line which keeps him fit. Joe Baute succeeded Charlie Clough as chairman and chief executive officer of Nashua Corp. From 1987 to 1995 Joe was chairman and chief executive officer of Marcom Corp., a manufacturer of imaging technology supplies. All in the Dartmouth family. JimWright retired as a director of Genrad Inc. of Concord, Mass. His company manufactures electronic testing systems. Jim is with the New Bank of New England and lives in Boxboro, Mass., with his wife, Janet.
Bart Lombardi was awarded a silver tray by the New York office of the National Executive Service Corp. in recognition of his management consulting services to the West port, Conn., public schools. He advised the school district in its expansion plans for the elementary and middle schools for prospective enrollment seven years hence. Bart spent 35 years in systems consulting nationally and internationally with IBM and more recently with ROLM Cos. and Siemens in Norwalk. After graduating from the College he received an engineering master's from Thayer and a M.B.A. from NYU. He has retired to a position with Cold well, Banker in Wilton. He lives with his wife, Ursula, in Ridge field.
Drew Waitley was named senior vice president and division head of the new contractors division of the Commercial Lending Department of La Salle National Bank of Chicago. The bank in its release was full of praise for Drew's expertise in the building industry. He graduated from Tuck and has made a career of banking and insurance. Drew and his wife, Mary Anne, are longtime north shore residents, currently in North brook.
