It seems that "cabin fever" has begun to afflict us here in New England in mid-February. Everyone seems to want to get out of town to warmth and sun. A quick weekend ski trip to frigid Hanover (-2 0) last weekend revealed precious little snow as construction had started on the center of campus statue for Winter Carnival. The only other notable change was at the Hanover Inn, which is undergoing a rather major addition to the lobby. As you walk in the front door, a large new fireplaced sitting room is being created to the left from space that was part of the outdoor terrace dining area.

Bill Webster reported that TuckerMays was recently elevated to the position of outrageous events/sports chairman by the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Fairfield County, Conn. We hope to learn more about Tucker's plans in this capacity in the event he would be willing to share this expertise at future class events. He might even help us form an outrageous events committee. Bill is also associated with the Fairfield County Association serving on its executive committee.

In April I hope to join Bill, Mike Orr,Ted Atkinson, and Dick Lochridge who will have spent three days at a small golf tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C. It should be a lot of fun and, who knows, we might just lower our handicaps. Of course, we will all look to Mike for stroke-saving tips, and maybe even free golf balls!

Allen Zern reported that he had heard from Derek Knudsen that Derek's daughter Paisley was getting married in May and that she and her husband would be living in the New York City area.

A November article in the White Plains (N.Y.) Reporter-Dispatch related that the Rev. George W. Rutler had spoken before the parent association of St. Patrick's School in Bedford, N.Y. The article went on to say that "Rutler is a wellknown preacher and Catholic priest in the archdiocese of New York and can be seen regularly on EWTN (The Eternal Word Television Network)." He is an author of nine books including his newest, The Crisisof Saints.

Rick Joseph recently sent a letter to the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine relating an interesting Dartmouth coincidental meeting in West Africa. Rick was there to give a talk on "Democratization and Conflict in Africa" at the American Cultural Center in Abidjan (the capital) of Cote d'Ivoire. Upon meeting the person who had organized the event, he immediately recognized her as a Dartmouth student from his time as a faculty member in the 1980s. She turned out to be Sophie L. Folly '85, who is currently serving as cultural affairs officer in the U.S. Information Service. Also attending the meeting was Lakellia Moore '94. The talk and discussion were conducted in French. Rich is currently a visiting professor in political science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

As I am sure you know, Hank Amon is off to a great start as our head agent. He has set some ambitious goals and needs our support. Let's keep the momentum going! Meanwhile, I need news from all of you!
