Lots of news from the 'net this month. SaraHoagland Hunter () reports that she and JulieMiner "had an absolute blast" doing a children's picture book on the Navajo Code Talkers of World War 11. The book is titled The Unbreakable Code and is dedicated to the memory of Heather Wilson '78, who first told Sara the story of the Code Talkers. Sara has done two books for Warner Brothers, "thanks in large part to TomReugger." While working in Californa last summer, Sara and family had a great time visiting the Rueggers—"Adrienne AlexanderReugger is starring in the wildest production of her life: boys, dogs, awesome house—definate nate sitcom potential." Sara suggests that Martha and Jim Beattie, Jack and CathyBrennan, and Hopsy and King Poor be drafted to organize our next Reunion ("the first Dartmouth Couples Reunion Committeeit would be history-making and highly effective!").
Rick San Soucie reports that he "was volunteered" to put together a class home page on the 'net. If you have an e-mail address, send a note to Rick at and he will include it in the directory. Rick saw Charlie Brumback and Jeff Reedi at the December Alumni Council meeting in Hanover, and ran into Carey Heckman and Robert Lee at the Class Officers Weekend last fall. Bobby Lee is working in New York City and raising his family in Darien, Conn. While in Hanover, Rick had dinner with Emily Csatari '99. Emily is the daughter of our own Judy (Burrows) Csatari and Tom Csatari '74—the first "double legacy" to attend the College.
Charlie Brumback sent a note confirming that he did indeed attend the December Alumni Council meeting, saw Rick San Soucie, and thought Rick's presentation on the Dartmouth Club system was very interesting. (I want to observe that this is the very first time I've received any independent confirmation of any item reported as fact in this column. DaveDavenport and Maris Viedemanis will be happy to see that my journalistic standards have improved, if only slightly.) Charlie and Kim adopted their second child last May, and are still in Orlando, where Charlie practices corporate law ().
Speaking of adoption, Dave andRebecca Graulich are looking to adopt, and asked that I mention their hopes in this column. Any classmates who can help them with their search should contact Dave at (415) 952-1933 or . The Graulichs can provide a happy home in the San Francisco suburbs, complete with a musical dog, courtyard garden, and good humor. Any help is appreciated!
And the last few electrons: MarcLaCasse and family are living in Tuscon, where Marc is working on the infrared optical telescope array on Mt. Hopkins (on Top of the Hop?). Marc's slightly ominous report is that "the instrument is currently working well and detecting interference fringes at both optical and infrared wavelengths." Marc and the wavelengths can be reached at .
Stephanie Valar is now working for Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania as associate director of alumni programs and reports that after years of being a volunteer fundraiser for various local non-profits, I am finally getting paid for my efforts!" Stephanie can be reached at . CarlLittle just published a new book, WinslozvHomer and the Sea, just in time for the Homer retrospective at the National Gallery of Art. Carl, spouse Margaret Beaulac, Emily 10, and James 7 have recently moved into a house in Somesville, Maine, big enough to hold all of them and James' baseball card collection. James hopes that Jim Beattie will send him a signed card (or an e-mail, ).
Thanks very much to all who responded to what Stephanie Valar accurately called my e-mailed "plaintive request for news"! All the rest of you who are wired, send me a note.
