An every-issue guide to staying in touch with Dartmouth

Come Back to Hanover for this summer's Alumni College and choose one of two sure-fire electives: "Ending Times" and "Write," The dates are August 4-11 and both courses offer a who's who of Dartmouth faculty and lecturers.

For anyone who's looking ahead to the next millennium with qualms, questions, doubts, high expectations, anxiety, excitement, trepidation, bated breath, or you-name-it, the course to pick is surely:

Ending Times, which will examine various scenarios associated with "the end" of our current millennium. Professors discussing the good news/bad news: are Laurence Davies on literary versions of the apocalypse, Mary Kelley on millennial movements in early American history Marcelo Glciser on astrophysical matters, Bob McGrath on art, SusanAckerman '80 on religion, Scott Drysdale on chaos theory, ShalomGoldman on a seventeenth-century Jewish millennarian, and Charles Wood; who will give the keynote lecture on the year 1000,

If you feel it's too early to think about next year, much less the next century, then you should sign up for:

Write, a writers workshop directed by Joe Medlicott '50 which features a faculty of widely published authors including Barbara Kreiger PriscillaSears, Ernest Hebert, and Curmudgeonly columnist Noel Perrin. This team will conduct individual tutorials, gather you in small group meetings, and still leave you plenty of time to write—whether on computers or on the backs of old laundry lists (your choice).
