A long and welcome letter from our former class secretary, Jeff Jackson, who writes, "I feel your pain when you gaze across the desk at an in basket that is stark, staring empty. What a feeling! So, here at least is one feeble effort to help out." Thanks, Jeff, you did. He wonders how many of our classmates are still working. So I ask you guys to drop me a line and advise whether you work, fulltime or parttime, or what you are doing with your time. If we don't hear from you, you will be listed as retired, and you will be notified of the results in this column two issues from now. Jeffs son Dave has been a year round resident of Vero Beach for 15 years, and a feature editor of the Press-Journal, our local newspaper, and Jeff's brother Dick '39 is a winter resident at the Moorings here in Vero.
Just before returning to our home in Somers, we had lunch with Anne andBabe Shea here and learned that in November they are moving into a threebedroom villa in one of Florida's finest health care centers, Indian River Estates. Babe is trying to put back on some of the pounds he has lost recently. He has gained two or three, but still has plenty to go.
After reading Bill Scherman's newsletter of March 21, Sarj Sarajian reminisces about a similar 1932 incident, when he rented his 1928 cabriolet for the Thanksgiving weekend, and he went home with others. The renters, on the way back to Hanover, wrecked his car, and JackLynch, Sarj's roommate, thought that Sarj had been in the car. On his return, Sarj knocked on his dorm door, Jack opened it and almost fainted—he had heard that Sarj had been killed in the wreck.
Other reminiscences, happy, humorous, or horrifying? Please send them.
Sadly, we report the deaths of classmates Leland Hunt and Alan Tawse, and also the very sudden death of Barbara Smoyer,Stan's wife, who was loved by all of us, and will certainly be missed at all our '34 functions. Our sincerest sympathies to their families.
