Although it seems that most every year summer is far too short and the long, cold winter is too soon at our doorstep, I find great pleasure and solace in the autumn days that remind me of Dartmouth. Soon the hillsides will be aglow with color, the leaves will rustle beneath our feet and the Baker Tower bells (even if we can't get close enough to hear them) will resonate in the brisk, fresh air. Homecoming Weekend, October 19th, vs.Yale, is right around the corner and beckons you back to Hanover. Sure, watching hundreds of freshmen run madly around the bonfire seems a bit bizarre at age 38 (a feeling that comes from trying to explain the event to your six year old), but somehow it's a great time to reconnect and just plain remember. Child friendly minireunion events are anticipated for Homecoming Weekend as well as the November 2nd game at Harvard.

Dan Zenkel (our mini reunion chair) and his wife, Michele, announce the March 28th arrival of Jack Benjamin (Jack Nicholson's namesake according to Dan). Jack joins two year old Nicole who, reportedly, "loves him!" Classmates who have been honored by the College: This past winter SusanFagerstrom was awarded the Young Alumni Distinguished Service Award. This award recognizes exceptional volunteer service to the College from alumni/ae who are 15 years or less out. In May Cathy McGrath was also honored with the Distinguished Service Award, which she received during Class Officers Weekend. Cathy's entourage at the dinner included her parents, her sister, and family as well as husband Bill and beautiful daughter Carrie. Let's give a rouse for Susan and Cathy! Holly Raths Hart and LeilaniCrane have accepted the rigorous duties of class newsletter editors. They plan to publish four times a year and anxiously await news from you. Finally, it is with sadness that I tell you of the passing of Danny Norton on December 16, 1995, in Denver. At Dartmouth Danny was a member of Gamma Delta Chi and was active in the Dartmouth Players, IFC, Film Society, and Green Key.
