Although October '95 seems a distant memory today, it will feel like ancient history by the time this column is printed. However, Homecoming Weekend brought a few of us back to Hanover for festivities, class meeting, a warm fire, and many friendly faces.

Class meeting was well attended by Meg Coughlin LePage, Susan Fagerstrom, Merle Adelman, Eric Stults, Mark Alperin, Cathy McGrath and daughter Caroline, Susan Green Spagnola and children Thomas and Madeline, and LizPickar Gray and children Lindley and Rachel. As one might imagine there were a few interruptions and all notes were made in crayon! During the meeting we moved to give $2,000 to winterize a Moosilauke Cabin and heard a very moving letter from a freshman from China who we sponsored on a '95 freshman trip.

It was reported that Mike McClintock volunteered to be chairman for leadership giving for the next five years and Dan Zenkel volunteered to chair mini-reunions, though we were looking for a co-chair in a West Coast location.

We also did some brainstorming on what might be a good class project. One idea tossed around was that of a kind of Earth Day during which '80s gathered regionally on a given day to do something for the environment. We'd love to hear your ideas for a possible project. Contact Cathy McGrath at (413) 773-178? or Liz Picker Gray at (301) 320-2918.

Eric Stults reported from a meeting of the Dartmouth Gay and Lesbian Alumni and Faculty and Staff Coalition the undertaking of a half-million dollar endowment drive to fund the first interdisciplinary gay and lesbian studies course at the College.

Head agent, Merle Adelman, reminds us all that the deadline for donations for the '96 Alumni Fund is June 30. "Contributions continue to come in steadily, but we need everyone's help to meet our goals, and to make another great gift to the school from the class of '80. Thanks to all of you for your generosity!"

In other news from around the globe, Dr. Michael Lynch was recently featured on a Norwalk Conn., radio station discussing sports medicine. Mike is an orthopedic surgeon at a Norwalk Hospital in addition to his work in private practice.

She is currently leading a workshop for area teachers at the North County Educational Foundation on Gorham Hill in New Hampshire. Marsha is an eighth-grade earth science teacher on leave from Manchester's Derry School.

Tom Turnbull made news in his hometown of Ligonier Penn., where he was running for re-election to the town school board. Tom has been running his family's business, Bulls Tavern, for 15 years and has served on the school board for the past four years. Donal O'Brien III has been named senior vice president and regional sales manager of Heitman Properties' eastern region portfolio based in New York City. Paul Elmlinger has been named a managing director of Scudder, Stevens & Clark Inc. as of January 1, 1996.

Ed Rowland and Amy Cohen Rowland (Brown '81) joyfully announce the birth of their daughter, Lainie Juliet Rowland, on June 7 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Ed recently joined Pepsi Foods International as a general manager designate for six years with Mars Inc. His initial training assignment is director of development-Caribbean.
