I must begin by thanking everyone who sent notes about their whereabouts recently—the response has been great! Please keep those letters coming. Our esteemed alumni class VP BrendanDoherty passed along some news to me before I left D.C. last month. Speaking of Hanover, did anyone see the January 4, 1997, issue of The New York Times? An article featuring President Freedman and the College made it all the way to page 6. Go Dartmouth.

From the Boston crowd, Michael Lu reports that he is still with his job at Monitor, and will "probably be there for some time to come."

He is living with Barney Olson, AdamMedros, and Aaron Culliney, but says that all are working relatively long hours and don't seem to see much of each other. He did meet up with several classmates recently: Justin Cooper, who is working for CSFirst Boston in New York City, Lukasz Rachuba, who is right at home with the family of '96s at Harvard Law, and Sanjay Natarajan, who is also in graduate school at Harvard.

Belated congratulations goes to KristinPierce, who not only ran the Maine Marathon last October—her first everbut also won the women's division with a time of 3:05:00. Fellow classmate BrianBarry also finished the race, keeping her company along the way.

Cathy Impastato wrote recently that she spent last fall interning in geochemical research at the Los Alamos National Lab in New Mexico. It was "great experience," she writes, "but I have learned that I definitely do not belong in a lab!" She also got together with roommate Christina Eng, as well as Kira Lawrence, over Thanksgiving to watch the Dartmouth women's basketball team play in a tournament at Holy Cross. Still undecided about this winter, Cathy said she is thinking about heading west to Colorado or Utah to join JenStamp for some "skiing adventures." Jen, by the way, was in Hawaii last fall doing biological research.

After spending last summer interning at Intel in Folsom, Calif., Rick Fasani returned to Hanover, where he was offered a scholarship as an M.S. candidate and research assistant. Jack Kolodny is also on campus finishing up his fifth year at Thayer. Kendra Cheves, currently at Michigan Law, also sent an update about some friends: Elizabeth Kalyvas, she says, began nursing school in Miami in January. Kristen Calcagni is in med school at UVM, and Betsy Miller is in law school at Harvard. Kendra also writes that she sees Kim Koontz regularly, who also studying at Michigan.

Finally, I have some news of my own to report: my White House internship ended in December, and since I decided against a long-term job there, my e-mail address has changed. So, please note the new one and use it instead: .

That's about it for this issue. I hope the new year is treating everyone well so far! Until the next installment...
