Curt Abel reports from Delray Beach that he and Marian took a slight detour on their way from Vermont to Florida last October via Salina, Kan., for his 50th high school fun reunion, followed by more fun in Houston and New Orleans. He also opines that one of the pleasant features of Florida winter residence is the opportunity for seeing many visiting "snowbirds." The following for example:

Bill and Billee Jenkins visited in and around Delray for a few days in November before a tour of the Asheville region and Thanksgiving with their children in Rocky Mount, N. C., and their return to Falmouth.

Bob and Naomi Borwell tied up at the Delray Yacht Club for a few days in November and entertained the Abels at a most pleasant dinner aboard their magnificent "Misty."

Bob and Esther Sharp visited Delray for lunch at the Abels' early in January en route from their Chatham, Cape Cod home to Grenada and the Grenadine Islands.

Connie and Louise Kurtz were expected for a few days in March on their way home to Buffalo after a Caribbean cruise aboard the "Renaissance."

Horton Conrad is back in the pink and 35 pounds slimmer after last August's chest surgery in Cleveland. Connie and Elsa live in nearby Boca Raton which is headquarters for his thriving business as a manufacturer' representative.

The Bariloche region in the ArgentineChilean lake district in the foothills of the Andes is world famous for trout and salmon fishing. And that's why George and Fran Zahm took off from Delray for Lima, Buenos Aires and San Carlos, Argentina, for three weeks of February fishing. And now George is more than busy with his considerable task as Class Agent. His efforts merit the support of every member of the Class.

Your secretary (who is most grateful for the above job of reporting) and wife spent a pleasant six weeks in Mexico as a recess from the rigors and pleasures of a Maine winter and while there visited two classmates who are permanent residents of that interesting and delightful country.

Dan Slawson has lived in Cuernavaca since 1938 so he has seen fascinating changes in that coummunity and in the entire country. Dan occupies himself with real estate and his own attractive home is situated in a most impressive neighborhood and has its own beautiful courtyard filled with the trees, shrubs and flowers which do so well in this ideal climate. Dan does a lot with orchids and has a number of varieties. There is a swimming pool as a center piece.

In Manzanillo Heinie Leffiingwell and his wife have a house right on the beach, looking straight out to the Pacific across the waters of the bay, with the town a few miles to the south. They have been there for two years after a dozen years in the city of Guadalajara. Heinie has retired from business activity.

Another retiree who really enjoys the warm of the south is Tubby Washburn who lives in Fort Myers, Fla., and likes it so much he hates to leave even in the summer.

Fred Webster has his home in Short Hills, N.J., but also has a winter place in Florida in Palm Beach. Last year he and his wife left both places long enough for a six week cruise on the "Kungsholm" to Ireland, Scotland, Scandinavia and the Mediterranean, coming back home to their six grandchildren and the swimming pool built for them.

Lionel Mosher, retired three years ago as Dean Emeritus of Kimball Union Academy, spends the summers in Kennebunkport Me., and the winters in the South, this past one in South Carolina.

Unfortunately, the reference to JimmySmith which appeared in the April Magazine was written before the sad news of his death was received.

Robert J. Misch '25 was named Chevalierdu Mérite Agricole by the French Government for his service in fosteringAmerican appreciation of French gastronomy. Robert Lemercier (r) of theFrench Embassy offers a toast.
