Professor Marianne Hirsch, the Parents Distinguished Research Professor in the Humanities, has received a Distinguished Graduate School Alumnus award from Brown University. Professor Hirsch has also completed her book Family Frames: Photography, Narrative and Post-memory, forthcoming from Harvard University Press. She continues work on photography by looking at Holocaust photographs and their role in mediating the cultural and personal memory of the Holocaust. This relates to the course she teaches with historian Leo Spitzer on "Representing the Holocaust: History, Memory and Survival." Lawrence D. Kritzman, the Ted and Helen Geisel Third Century Professor of the Humanities and Professor of French and Comparative Literature, has edited a volume, Realms of Memory: Constructing the French Past (Columbia University Press, 1996).
