First things first I have an announcement to make. We have ourselves a Class Baby! Roberto Luis Cuevas was born December 26, 1996, to proud parents Natalyn Nails Cuevas and Ernesto Cuevas '98. Weighing in at 7 1bs., 7oz. and 19 inches long, baby Roberto is growing fast and is now, as mom Natalyn writes, "talking his baby talk and giggling and wriggling around and enjoying his baby swing and all that good stuff." Says Natalyn: "He is the most beautiful creature I have ever seen in my life. I never imagined that one person could have for another the amount of love I feel for my little boy. He has given so much direction to our lives, and we are so determined to accomplish what we can for him. This fall I will be applying to grad school for music the first step in embarking on my maybe-illustrious career as an opera singer, while my husband does corporate recruiting. In the meantime, I am just soaking up all of the joy I can spending my time singing my son to sleep." Congratulations!
Best wishes also go out to Sara Solin and Rodrigo Martinez '95, who as I heard through the grapevine have set a date for their nuptials. The happy couple plan to tie the knot in Florida on June 20.
How about the rest of the crowd? It seems Tyler Stableford is doing especially well on the career path, having collected several prime job offers. "I'm starting to see my visions succeed," he writes, "beginning with a five-year contract as an outdoor photographer for The Image Bank stock agency, and now a job as the head photography editor for Climbing magazine." Also doing well, Sheryl Jacobson spent four weeks in Hong Kong not too long ago as part of her job. Scott Anthony is in D.C. working for McKinsey and Co. and living with Chris Johnson '94. Sean Cushing is up in the northwestern United States, pursuing a master's degree in geology at Oregon State. A recent note from Alexander Panov says: "I live between New York and Laguna Beach, Calif., where I'm learning surfing and showing my paintings. In New York, I was working on a short film with a friend of mine for his N.Y.U. film thesis presentation. It's a comedy called Tongue Scraper and it's about transcendental meditation and the Russian Mafia. I am constantly broke and soon may have to resort to 'fries with that'?"
After spending time at the Economic Development Board of Singapore in the strategic planning division, Sanjay Natarajan is now in Boston working toward his master's at Harvard. "I am focusing on business development in East Asia," he notes, "and am quite spread out between taking courses at the business school and learning Chinese."
Wrapping things up, Jess Drolet writes that she and Tomoko Nakamura are "having a great time in New York City." Jess works for J.P. Morgan and Tomoko is at Goldman, Sachs. "We're both learning a lot and enjoying ourselves," she says. "We also frequently see Angelos Dassios, Burns McKinney, Jesse Israel, Mark Buschmann, Greig Saggers, Stefanie Weinstein, loana Mihaltu, Cristina Courey, and Sarah Lugaric, who are all living and working in the City."
Take care everyone, and keep in touch.
