The 55 th Reunion received rave reviews, due to the hard work and dedication of a large corps of volunteers under the leadership of Huntly Allison. Unfortunately Hunt was not able to fully enjoy the success of his venture; on Tuesday, June 10, the second day of the Reunion, he took ill, went to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and later that week they removed his gall bladder. Ginia reports that it "proved to contain a ton of stones." At this writing he is recuperating nicely and we look forward to his next production the minireunion in October.
There are more than enough credits to go around: Proc Page, the assistant chair, was chiefly concerned with attendance and filled in nobly when Hunt was incapacitated; Bob Kirk, treasurer, brought in a balanced budget and was a great MC at Tuesday night's Hanover Inn dinner; Leo Caproni for top-notch food service; Charles and Judy Weinberg, in charge of "amenities," came up with a really unique Reunion uniform—a wide-brimmed white "straw" hat and a truly wonderful travel vest with literally dozens of pockets; Bob Encherman, whose publicity helped bring 150 people (80 men, 70 women) to Hanover; Dave Sargent and Wally Farr set up the tent and "social" activities; Dutch Schaefer, handled sports (golf); the Rev. Roger Robison for a moving memorial service; John Montagne, with help from Dave Sills, organized the symposiums; Alex Fanelli with Bob and Gerry Searles, in charge of registration; and Ginia Allison, who provided back-up for Hunt and handled the ladies' luncheon among other things. Proc also recognized the help he had in building attendance in various regions from Bob Searles, Dick Burns, Mike deSherbinin, Andy Wood, Chuck Herberger, Bob Smith, Dave Sills, Frank Faruolo, Dick Baldwin, Jim Rendall, and Bud Dutton.
The class meeting elected new officers to serve for five years, or until our 60th Reunion in 2002. Your new president is Dave Heald; first vice president is Proc Page; second vice president is Jim Rendall; treasurer is Frank Faruolo; and secretary is Milton Williams, your present columnist. Dave paid tribute to the outgoing team, which has done a terrific job for us over the past five years, led by Jack Corwith as president, with vps Tom Blankley and Warren Kreter, Alex Fanelli as secretary and Art Henderson, treasurer. Our gratitude to all of them.
